The Human Comes First
How mycology, motherhood, advocacy, and art shaped Jennifer Gullickson’s belief that psychedelic education must begin with curiosity, responsibility, and the whole person.
Jennifer Gullickson knows that opening a door and knowing how to walk through it are two very different things.
Her path into psychedelic education began with curiosity, personal experience, and a deep relationship with mushrooms and plant-based healing. Over time, she began noticing something beyond the substances themselves. People were entering altered states without honest education, practical harm-reduction tools, or communities where they could ask uncomfortable questions without being judged for asking them.
That gap became impossible for her to ignore.

For Jennifer, education became more than the transfer of information. It became harm reduction, advocacy, and community care rolled into one. It also became a way to help people understand their intentions, risks, environments, and responsibilities before stepping into unfamiliar inner territory.
Lessons from the Mushroom
Jennifer’s work crosses several worlds. She is a Founding Instructor with Inner EDGE Travel Academy™ and Co-Director of Decriminalize Nature Nevada and the Las Vegas Psychedelic Society, where her work centers on education, outreach, harm reduction, and informed access to plant-based healing.
Then there is the artistic side.
Jennifer is the founder and creative force behind The RaeLynn Collection™, a boutique studio encompassing original artwork, stained glass, photography, handcrafted goods, educational products, and storytelling. Creativity is not separate from her community work. Both are rooted in curiosity, connection, and respect for what can emerge when people are given room to explore.

Advocacy taught her the importance of language, accessibility, and human rights. Harm reduction taught her that meeting people where they are is often more powerful than telling them where someone else believes they should be. Motherhood taught her to see the human being beyond the immediate problem.
Together, those experiences shaped an approach grounded in curiosity before assumption and education before judgment.
Nobody Arrives Without Baggage
Psychedelic experiences do not happen in isolation. People arrive with histories, relationships, medications, expectations, fears, cultures, environments, and lived experiences. A substance does not erase any of that. An altered state may amplify it.
That is why Jennifer believes responsible support must begin with the whole person. The facilitator’s job is not to reduce someone to a psychedelic experience that needs to be managed. It is to understand that a human being has arrived with an entire life in tow.
Having traveled through altered states may create empathy and perspective. It does not automatically create competence. Facilitators also need education in harm reduction, risk management, contraindications, medications, trauma awareness, ethics, boundaries, consent, cultural considerations, crisis response, set and setting, and integration.
They must also understand the limits of their own role.

The temptation to interpret another person’s journey through our own lens is powerful. It can also quietly take the experience away from the traveler.
Facilitation is not about becoming the person with all the answers. Sometimes it means speaking. Sometimes it means listening. Sometimes it means intervening. Sometimes it means allowing another person enough protected space to encounter their own experience. Wisdom lives in knowing the difference.
Education Without Shame
Jennifer is bringing that practical, human-centered philosophy into the Inner EDGE Travel Academy™ classroom. She is especially interested in the intersection of psychedelic education, harm reduction, travel, and real-world human experience.
Travel already asks people to step outside what is familiar. Psychedelics can create a similar movement internally. When those worlds meet, the potential for discovery is enormous. So is the responsibility to prepare.
Jennifer wants to bring students tools they can actually use, scenarios that are not always neat or predictable, and honest conversations about both the beautiful possibilities and uncomfortable realities of altered states.
Most importantly, she wants students to feel safe asking the questions they might otherwise be afraid to ask.

Discernment Over Certainty
When students complete the Pilot Cohort, Jennifer hopes they leave carrying more than information. She wants them to leave with discernment.
That means recognizing risk, creating safer environments, respecting personal autonomy, communicating without judgment, and understanding the importance of preparation and integration. It also means remaining curious enough to keep learning.
The psychedelic field is still evolving. Anyone who believes they have reached the end of what there is to know may be announcing a limitation rather than an achievement.
Jennifer hopes students carry responsibility into their future work, but she also hopes they carry compassion.

For Jennifer Gullickson, that is where credible psychedelic education begins. Not with the substance. Not with the facilitator’s résumé. Not with the need to appear certain.
It begins with the person standing at the threshold and the responsibility to remember whose journey it is.
